About Us

Steven is a professional Geoscientist with 10+ years experience in the mineral exploration industry focusing on multi-commodity prospect generation, project management and project design. He is an expert in magmatic Ni-Cu-PGE exploration with a proven track record of discovery. In 2014 he was a co-recipient of the Northwestern Ontario Prospectors Association Discovery of the Year award for the discovery of the Sunday Lake PGE deposit. Steven completed a Master of Science in Mineral Exploration at Laurentian University in 2017 and an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology at Lakehead University in 2011. He is an avid fisherman, loves camping and would spend any day out in the bush mineral-hunting given the opportunity.

Janine has worked as an exploration geologist – specializing in Archean lode gold and VMS systems – in Canada and Australia with about 10 years of experience under her belt. She has been involved on exploration projects ranging from greenfield stage through to advanced exploration and mine-development as she provides our team with important insight on the mining cycle in its entirety. She completed her Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology at Lakehead University in 2011 and her current responsibilities with Bayside Geoscience Inc. involve book-keeping, payroll, billing, and general administration. Janine loves being in the outdoors fishing, camping and would spend any chance she can get in her garden teaching her little one about the importance of our ecosystem.

Troy joined Bayside Geoscience Inc. in January 2020 and develops and administers Bayside’s Human Resources and Health and Safety programs. A highly dedicated and committed Human Resource, Health and Safety professional, Troy’s work is characterized by his leadership and management skills to guide projects in a team environment, his emphasise on strong communication and due diligence have resulted in greater client and workforce satisfaction. His strategic planning and guidance through changes in business strategy have delivered substantial savings and business impact. Troy brings with him a diploma in Human Resource Management and 15 years’ experience in the Construction Industry. Troy’s main responsibilities include health and safety, recruitment and selection, business development, compensation and benefits, employment contracts and logistics. He likes understanding the mechanics of how businesses operate, loves golfing and the company of his friends and family at a good barbeque.

Tiina is a new member to our Bayside Team (as of 2021) and with that she brings with her a diverse knowledge of proper business practices ranging from: logistics within the restaurant industry, political party involvement, radio hosting (CILU 102.7FM), managing non-for-profit organizations and charity work. She is very diversified and has a strong passion for social justice as well as the humane treatment of the flora and fauna of our ecosystems. Tiina is also an amazing singer and has performed alongside the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra for two charity events. She is a breath of fresh air and a real asset to our team.

Simon has been with Bayside since 2018, and in 2021 he became a full-time Staff Geologist-in-Training for the company. He has been contracted out to mining companies throughout Northern Ontario and has been a proven asset to their exploration endeavors. Notable projects include: gold exploration at Musselwhite Mine, and magmatic Ni-Cu PGE exploration for: Lac des Iles Mine, the Sunday Lake Intrusion, the East Bull Lake Intrusion and the Bannockburn Project. Throughout his career, Simon has acquired valuable industry experience, project management skills, exploration logistics and lasting friendships.

Simon has a MSc Geology (2018) and an HBSc Geology (2014) from Lakehead University, Thunder Bay. His master’s thesis specialized in the sedimentology, metamorphism and geochemistry of Archean banded iron formations.

In his spare time, Simon curls at the Fort William Curling Club and is part of the Chaban Ukrainian Dance Group. You may recognize him for his incredible jumping skills, as he is featured in promotional posters for the Thunder Bay Folklore Festival.

Jeremy graduated as a Geologist from Lakehead University with a HBSc degree in Geology. His experience includes working on gold, palladium and lithium pegmatites. Since joining the Bayside team in 2020, he has worked on several different drill programs and mine sites as a Geologist in Training and Senior Geological Technician.

He is also a talented photographer who is currently developing his own production company. He has composed aerial maps of showings via drone photography, as well as filmed promotional drone videography footage for clients (including Bayside!).

Derek has been with Bayside since the company launched in 2017. He has and continues to be an asset to the team, with his experience and expertise in the exploration, mining and welding industry.

Derek is a Certified CWB Welding Supervisor, providing him a strong knowledge base in not only metals and machinery, but also best practices for workplace safety. He is a “Jack of all Trades”, able to troubleshoot mechanical issues, build equipment and design solutions when faced with a problem. He is an expert in workplace safety and plays a pivotal role in our company as our Health and Safety Liaison.

When Derek isn’t helping train our new geological technician hires or working hard as a geological technician himself, he can be found somewhere outdoors either hunting, fishing, or enjoying a little bit of camp life.
